Household Testing

Household Bacteria Testing

If you are in a situation where germs and infections are a serious threat, the most proactive step towards prevention and sanitation is through household bacteria testing. Conducting microbial tests in the water, food and environment of your home can provide peace of mind and knowledge of what lurks behind.

Germ’s Fingerprints

Like people, germs have fingerprints that allow doctors and scientists to identify the germs that cause serious diseases. After a germ’s fingerprints are identified, the chances of finding a cure for the disease is greatly improved.

Successfully managing a chronic disease such as cystic fibrosis means more than just taking medication. It requires trusting partnerships between patients, their families and caregivers to develop treatment and management plans that line up personal life goals with health goals.

Although common germs like Pseudomonas and Burkholderia are generally not a threat to people with a healthy immune system, they are a danger to someone with any condition that causes a weakened immune system.

Examples

A few examples of at-risk patients include those recovering from surgery or illness, organ transplant patients, patients with open wounds and patients with chronic health conditions such as autoimmune disorders, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, cystic fibrosis, asthma, allergies and other conditions.

Dangerous bacteria could cause serious complications for at-risk patients. Dangerous bacteria include germs such as:

  • E. coli
  • Staphylococcus aureus including MRSA
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Other Pseudomonas
  • Burkholderia cepacia
  • Streptococcus pyogenes (strep throat)
  • Klebsiella pneumonia
  • Hemophilus influenza
  • Neisseria meningitidis
  • Mycobacteria tuberculosis
  • Non-tuberculosis Mycobacteria
  • Aspergillus species (mold)
  • Candida species (yeast)
  • Other bacteria, yeast and molds and parasites
