MPA is an EPA Consensus Method based on microscopically identifying certain bioindicators typically present in surface water. Risk
scores are calculated from analyses of a filtered ground water sample establishing the potential risk of
surface water influence.
At least 300 gallons of water is filtered over an 8-24 hour period. The filter is sealed in a ziplock bag and transported with ice to the laboratory for analysis.
