Biography Paul J. Pearce
Paul J. Pearce, PhD is President and Owner of Nova Biologicals, Inc. He holds advanced degrees in Microbiology, Chemistry, and Physiology. Dr. Pearce received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from North Texas State University in 1973.
Dr. Pearce is a practicing microbiologist and is a recognized laboratory director in the areas of environmental, toxicological, and medical testing. As a Public Health Laboratory Director, Dr. Pearce coordinated and supervised laboratory testing supporting environmental, infectious disease, and food and water assessments, evaluations, and regulatory compliance. Dr. Pearce managed a full service Regional Health Department Laboratory encompassing bacteriology, mycobacteriology, public health bacteriology, virology, and parasitology.
Dr. Pearce's clinical microbiology work has included Rubella serological testing and preparation of rubella antigens as well as epidemiological surveys, environmental surveys, and personnel surveys to detect potential sources of agents of nosocomial infections. Additionally Dr. Pearce has developed and implemented policies and procedures for the operation of clinical laboratories certified by Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, College of American Pathologists, and American Association of Bioanalysts.
Dr. Pearce is an Assistant Professor of Pathology for Baylor College of Medicine. In this capacity he works in the medical laboratory as a Clinical Microbiologist , focusing on the detection of disease causing microorganisms and appropriate patient therapies. Dr. Pearce's' special areas of interest are those naturally occurring bacteria that frequently become disease-causing in the immune compromised host. E. coli and the Staphylococci are among those microorganisms that he has studied. Dr. Pearce is certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Specialist in Microbiology and has worked nationally and internationally on issues associated with establishing and maintaining patient care programs that assure a high quality of life. As an infection control practitioner, Dr. Pearce provides medical and technical support for the prevention, early detection, and management of infectious disease processes.
Dr. Pearce is a licensced Mold Consultant with the Texas Department of State Health Services.
